Kids and an Elephant

What do a baby elephant, an adult elephant and you have in common? More than you think!

I recently read a story about one of the ways in which a baby elephant is trained, and I instantly realized: Wow! There is little difference between this and how adults train their kids. When a baby elephant (calf) is being trained, the trainer will tie one end of a rope to its leg and the other end to a stake driven in the ground. The trainer keeps the rope relatively short so the calf cannot venture very far. Although the calf tries many times to break free from the limit of the rope, it cannot. The rope is simply too strong.
